In the upcoming 2009 Virginia legislative assembly, a bill to create a license plate promoting tourism and conservation on the Northern Neck will be introduced.

The revenue sharing plate will support the Northern Neck Land Conservancy after 1,000 plates are sold. But in order to get the license plate into production, the Department of Motor Vehicles requires that 350 plates be pre-purchased by January. We are extremely optimistic that it will pass if we get the 350 needed.

We all love the Northern Neck. It has won our hearts because of its unique character and unspoiled lands. When you drive around with a Northern Neck license plate on your car, you'll not only be displaying your pride of the area to neighbors and friends, but you’ll help the Northern Neck Land Conservancy preserve the land you love.

Print out the form and directions. Complete applicant information form with name(s), address, phone number(s), plate and vehicle information. 

Payment is by check, made payable to Northern Neck License Plate.

The Standard plate with numbers assigned by DMV is an annual fee of $25.00.  A personalized plate with your choice of characters is $35.00 annually. There is a six character limit.  Check the certification signature section and sign and date the form.

Send your check and application to PO Box 125, Lancaster,  VA 22503. 

Your payment will be cashed and held in an escrow account until the legislation is introduced in 2009. If you have any questions or want more information, please call 804-462-0979.

Plates will be sent to your home in the spring of 2010 with new decals.
